The Wonders of Cooking

Welcome to Wonders of Cooking! My name is Bradley Newcomb and I am a passionate high school student who loves to cook. Whether it's a simple breakfast of eggs and bacon or a fancy steak dinner, I enjoy it all. Cooking is a fulfilling hobby or lifestyle because you get to savor whatever you make and satisfy your cravings.

Although I haven't been cooking for very long, just about a year or two, I have developed a deep passion for it. Baking and cooking have become some of my favorite things to do. I love experimenting with new recipes and creating my own. Currently, my favorite dish to prepare is fried chicken. It tastes amazing and making it at home is far better than buying it from Popeyes or KFC because you can choose your preferred breading and cooking method.

However, cooking can sometimes be stressful, especially when you have to cook for multiple people in a small kitchen and everyone wants to be in there. Despite this, I still love cooking and find it to be a truly rewarding experience. Here is a picture of one of the chicken sandwiches I have made:

This sandwich was so good. I used a whole chicken breast, then I cut it into four sections. For the batter, I used about a cup and a half of flour, tablespoons of cornstarch, a tablespoon of baking powder, and pringles. Pringles was an excellent choice it provided a very crunchy crust which was amazing to bite into. The seasoning consisted of salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, and cajun seasoning. I do not know the amount of each seasoning I put in because I kind of just have an idea of how much to put in. Anyway, I get two eggs crack those in a bowl, get a bowl for the batter combine the batter with the seasonings. Then get a big pan and fill it with canola oil until it is about the length of your pinkie nail. This is a pan-fried chicken which I do because it's more convenient but deep frying would be so much better in my opinion. Then you just dip it in the bowl of the eggs, then into the batter, then into the oil at like 350 degrees F, until golden brown and you have yourself an amazing chicken.

Occasionally I have been baking and improving my skills, with my limited amount of items. So far I have only made banana bread and croissants, but they were both amazing. The banana bread was moist and fluffy, the croissants had so many layers and it was so flaky. here are some photos of both:

The croissants took forever and were a pain because I did not have a rolling pin. It took me two days to make them, but I had to wake up so early it was horrible. The end result was absolutely worth it though, they had layers and were so flaky. It was yummy. It had a very nice outside texture; a small bit of crunch and then a very nice soft inside. I used one to make a breakfast sandwich the next morning that was delicious.

The banana bread was absolutely amazing. The inside was nice and moist, and the outside was cooked to perfection. It was so good after it was finished I let it rest then cut a couple slices and put some butter on it. Wow. It was so good.

Cooking is one of the best things ever and I really believe everyone should learn how to cook. It's not that hard to cook and does not take much time to learn how. Personally, I would love to go to culinary school just to expand my knowledge of cooking and possibly get even better. I probably would not want to be a chef for the rest of my life, but I would still love to go and grow my knowledge. Plus, if I wanted to become a food critic it would give me some credibility in the world of food.

Being a food critic sounds like an exciting and enjoyable job. Traveling around and trying different cuisines would be a dream come true. However, I can understand how it might be difficult to start out without a reliable source of income. Have you considered exploring other food-related careers or perhaps starting a food blog to gain experience and build a following? There are many opportunities out there to pursue your passion for food.

The opportunities in the food industry are truly vast and diverse! For those who love the culinary arts, there are plenty of career paths to choose from, such as becoming a chef, cook, or pastry chef. These roles can be found in many different settings, from restaurants to catering companies to food startups. But it's not just about cooking - food science and technology offer exciting opportunities to work on innovative food products and ensure their quality and safety.

If you're passionate about nutrition and dietetics, you can help others make healthier dietary choices.
